One
example is the southern coastal region, where the main concern is the fact of
not being able to go out fishing, because, so far this year, the first fishing
season of anchovy hasn´t started, which has meant that our local fishermen
haven’t been able to fish one single metric ton. It is important to specify
that in the south region, Peru and Chile share one stock of this resource,
being our neighbor from the south the only one who can take advantage of it.
On
the first five months of this year, Chile has collected 149 thousand MT on
their north region, instead our country, has stopped collecting close to 300
thousand MT, which has meant an economic loss of 392 million soles, money that
could be used on the battle against COVID-19.
This
situation requires a call to our authorities. Today, more than ever, it should
be easier to keep working on our seas, hand in hand with our neighbor country
of the south. Little by little, our country will be reactivated and that will
be the economic injection that our regions need so much. ¡We can do it
together!.
