The anchovy in Peru
The relationship of our fishing with the anchovy has been long, and it is due to the fact that Peruvian sea has an enviable biodiversity and wealth that astonishes the world. However, it is since the fifties that Peru has started to profile itself as an authority in the fishmeal production.
Despite the political impasses of the 70s and El Niño phenomenon in 1997, Peru once again gained strength in this area, attracting foreign investments.
The anchovy Importance for the industry
Nowadays, Peru is dedicated to the production and export of a large amount of fishmeal (anchovy) and can compete with foreign economies, such as Chinese, Thai and American. This global presence encourages us to continue making progress, that is why Hayduk always investigates and innovates, including the new projects which help the enterprise to continue growing.
For example, in the second fishing season of 2018, we carried out our pilot flour shipments, where we applied the BTH antioxidant. This was done to maintain our presence in the European market. In addition, we tried new forms of packaging which allowed us to change from the classic 50 kg sacks to 1.2 TM jumbo bags, and thus, be in accordance with the European laws. These improvements turned out to be very successful and are currently maintained to provide a quality product to our customers around the world.
I believe that with these practices, our flour will continue to have a high demand worldwide. And a few days after the first fishing season of the year, I would like to seize the opportunity and express my satisfaction with the sector.
As the President of Hayduk, I know perfectly well that this positive scenario is a merit shared by all of us who form part of the fishing industry; this measure expresses our commitment with Peru and and its economy. It is important to continue with our effort, keep working and keep evolving. But above all, let's continue doing it with pride and a lot of passion.
