I can not help but show my pride and affection for this city. Not only did it taugh me to love and respect the sea and hard work, but that love led to the founding of Hayduk Corporation in the neighboring town of Coishco, where we built our first plant 27 years ago. Both the company and I owe a lot to Chimbote and its people, whose spirit is part of our essence as fishing.
On the other hand, my love for this city and its wealth, partly due to the migratory process brought by the fishing activity, led me and a group of businessmen to promote the creation of the Centro Cultural Centenario de Chimbote, an institution of vital importance for the development of the arts and culture. As its CEO, I want to express my satisfaction for the important achievements that this wonderful initiative has achieved in Chimbote´s children, youth and adults.
Today we celebrate the anniversary of this great city, but I am convinced that the best tribute will always be hard work every day with respect and love for the sea. Those were the things that Chimbote taught me and that I have not stopped practicing from the first moment.
Thanks for everything Chimbote, and happy anniversary!
