More than 20 years ago, at Hayduk we anticipated this scenario. Therefore, we decided to adapt all our vessels to fish different species and implement new lines of business in our plants, betting on the canned and frozen products industries.
Canned fish: a new space to innovate
This segment is not new, but it certainly has a huge projection. Its highly competitive market in Peru and its inherent characteristics, being so massive, demand an innovative vision from various aspects.
While we are privileged to have an abundant and varied sea (which makes us one of the main fishing countries in the world), it is interesting to mention that more than 70% of the canned goods consumed in Peru are imported. However, little by little consumers are beginning to give greater importance to the origin of the product and its levels of safety, revaluing the national production. This has allowed the canning industry in Peru to take a new momentum.
For that reason, today we are filled with satisfaction when see that we make the right decisions when creates the brand of canned Campomar. From the beginning, we set ourselves the goal of being very strict in the quality controls, supervising every single stage of the process, from the fishing in our boats to its elaboration in the plants that we have along the Peruvian coast.
At Campomar we are Peruvians and we care about innovating in products to meet the costumers demands. We are one of the pioneers in implementing the presentation of tuna pieces and lithographed containers that minimize the imitations risks. We also bet on the reusable glass bottles for some of our products.
We seek to differentiate ourselves with great taste preserves in which food safety is guaranteed both by our integrated management model (fishing, processing and marketing), and by the international certifications we have, BRC Food and HACCP.
Today the Campomar preserves have a variety of products based on tuna and mackerel that reach all Peruvians, providing them with nutrition.
The industry of frozen products
Although the segment is not new either, our great sea wealth (variety and species volume) makes them a field with a lot of potential for the fishing sector to continue to develop.
In Hayduk we manage a wide line of frozen products made with tuna, mackerel, pota and mahi-mahi, mainly. It is from these species that we prepare different presentations based on our costumers requirements both in Peru and around the world.
Here the permanent monitoring of production standards is also fundamental. For this we are constantly checking that the chain of cold is not broken from the boat, which allows us to preserve all the nutritional value, as well as the products freshness and safety.
A commitment to evolution
I can only say that our evolution seeks to be parallel and consistent with the trends in the world, and that we are committed to developing other ways of providing quality nutrition through canned and frozen products, business lines that we have been promoting for continue to strengthen the industry.
Finally, that is one of our biggest commitments, and one of the reasons why we continue, day by day, to get ahead as fishermen and lovers of the sea.
