Dolphins: a sustainability challenge
Currently, the tuna industry in Peru is going through a strong revitalization, and in Hayduk we are one of the first to promote this process with great passion and dedication. However, this bet presents us with a great challenge: the care of dolphins. Why? Because both species tend to live together (whole schoals of tuna swim under large groups of dolphins), which forces us to be extremely careful during our fishing operations.
Therefore, apart from fully complying with the standards dictated by Peru´s Ministry of Production - PRODUCE, at Hayduk we consider it important to accredit us with the international Dolphin Safe label. This certification ensures that tuna net fishing does not put the nearby population of the marine mammal at risk, and is an essential part of our commitment to sustainability.
Promoting responsible fishing
As strong promoters of the tuna industry, we are very happy to see that efforts like this help to reinforce the awareness of the care of our marine resources. We are convinced that the way is to give the fishing sector a responsible approach, where the sustainability of our species plays a fundamental role, because the future of our industry falls on it.
From the beginning, in Hayduk we committed ourselves to bring nutrition for everyone, and doing so through a culture of respect and love for the sea can not make us happier.
